Some people believe earnestly that we are all victims of our fate. They believe that the vicissitudes of life tosses us to and fro like the ebb and flow of waves crashing against the shoreline. I recently read a wonderful paraphrase of a poem written by Ellen Wilcox entitled The Winds of Fate. The paraphrase was written by Charles Swindoll.

” The Winds of Fate”:
One ship sails east
One ship sails west
Regardless of how the winds blow,
It is the set of the sail
And not the gale
That determines the way we go.

The Preparation of the Gospel of Peace- Boyace Van Harlan Jr., PhD Gospel of Peace

imageToday during my meditation, I thought earnestly about the phrase ” the preparation of the gospel of peace”. The word preparation signifies the Christian’s spiritual readiness. How could anyone even try to take this journey we call life and not have shoes to traverse this stony winding path? It is the gospel of peace that sets our will. The gospel gives us focus! The gospel gives us a message and if we accept it gives us a task. We have no calling without the gospel. We have no sacrifice without an understanding. Christian feet are prepared and equipped.
