Still Alive- Boyace Van Harlan Jr., PhD

imageToday is my birthday! I am 60 years of age and I feel great. I have just finished my 3 mile daily walk and I am cleaning up for a special night out with my wife. My how the world is changing. Believe me when I say it is great to be alive and healthy! Things didn’t go exactly according to plan for the United States in a 1-0 loss to Germany, on today, but they did enough to finish second in Group G and they still have chance to step into history as the team that inspired our youth to play a new game! Can you imagine a world where young men like Lebron James and Kobe Bryant instead of opting for a life playing basketball and football start playing soccer? I can!

image“On the spectrum of creative work, the difference between the mediocre and the good is vast. Mediocrity is, however, still on the spectrum; you can move from mediocre to good in increments. The real gap is between doing nothing and doing something. Amateurs know that contributing something is better than contributing nothing.”- Austin Kleon

Silence

image“Those who have great self-control, or who are entirely absorbed in their work, speak little. Words and action do not go together. Observe nature: it works continuously, but in silence”.
– Mahatma Gandhi, 1869-1948
