An Artist- Boyace Van Harlan Jr.,PhD

“A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and brain is image a craftsman ; but a man said who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.”

Louis Nizer, “On Art,” c. 1980

We are made in the image of God. We must create every day! To move from mere consumer to producer is  a worthy cause and effort indeed! It is our posterity, our heritage. Live, create, be!

Surround Your Feelings with Love- Boyace Van Harlan Jr.,PhD

imageWhen you are upset you must give yourself room to be upset. Remember, identification with an emotion or feeling gives it energy. When we remove from the feeling the sense  of “I”, we deprive it of nourishment allowing it to wither away and die. Before I can disconnect from anger and rage, I must learn to surround my annoyance. By learning to repeatedly become a witness to my feelings, I prevent them from controlling me!

Meditate on the Word of God- Boyace Van Harlan Jr.,PhD

Joshua 1:8 exhorts us to meditate on the word of God both day and night. To meditate biblically means to mutter. To repeat the word of God over and over until they just are not only confirming words but until the Word speaks to us! Meditation on scripture can be performed as a mantra, using any school of meditation you choose. Meditation is gaining acceptance as a positive, complementary therapy by the health community for stress relief. The practice underwent clinical, healthcare trials in 2008 and 2009 in the U.S. Keep the word of God close to your heart and mind so that it will be there when you need it!image
